Our Story
How it all started
Prayer Baptist Church was founded almost 50 years ago in the rural municipality of Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan. Bro. Robert and Sis. Johnnie Jean Buchanan has faithfully served the LORD for 45 years.
Within those years, they were able both to build a church building on the edge of town with no outstanding debts and to operate a Care Home since 1986 charging only what it takes to care for each those in their care. However, due to Bro. Buchanan’s health, they had to retire both pastoring Prayer Baptist Church who’s supporting ten missionaries and operating the Buchanan’s Care Home on September 29, 2019.
How it continued
The church body was small, but dedicated, faithful and desirous to see the work to continue, but the church was without a pastor. Nevertheless, with the help of missionary Will Fehr, whose pastoring Grace and Light Baptist Church in Nipawin, they were able to conduct Sunday evening services for some time. Bro. Fehr was also instrumental in prayerfully finding a pastor for Prayer Baptist Church.
After waiting on the Lord for almost two years, the answers to prayer came. Bro. Karl and Sis. Cassie Galindez were led by God to do a survey trip in the Spring of 2021 to Porcupine Plain, SK. In which they visited for 10 days while preaching the Word and meeting the remnant and the townsfolk. Not long after, the church called Bro. Karl to be their pastor. And Grace Baptist Church of Surrey, BC with the leadership of Pastor Steve White sent the Galindez' out. And by mid-October of 2021, the Lord saw it fit to continue the work of Prayer Baptist Church.
Where we are headed
Pastor Karl Galindez continues the vision of world missions so the people can know His hand, His might and His name is the LORD (Jeremiah 16:21), and the church to lift up their eyes and look on the field and pray, go and give so others can go and fulfill the Great Commission written in Matthew 28:18-20.
We welcome anyone to come to our services. We have services on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Wednesday night at 7 p.m. Each service usually involves music and preaching. Please contact us if you have any questions.
