The Bible is our authority in all matters of faith and practice because the Bible is inspired by God and bears absolute authority of God Himself (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Thessalonians 2:23; 2 Peter 1:20, 21)
A church is a called out assembly of born-again, baptized believers meeting voluntarily in a specific location for the purpose of fellowship and support, observing and defending the ordinances, carrying out the Great Commission, and doing all things whatsoever the Lord commands. The word "church" itself denotes only a local body. The local church is an independent boy accountably only to the Lord Jesus Christ, the Head of the church (Colossians 1:18; 2 Corinthians 8:1-2, 19, 23; 2 Corinthians 8:19; 2 Corinthians 8:23).
Every believer today is a priest of God and may enter His presence in prayer directly through our Great High Priest, Jesus Christ (1 Peter 2:5; 1 Timothy 2:5; Revelation 5:9, 10)
An ordinance is something that was ordered by the Lord to be commemorated in the local church. There are two ordinances: baptism and the Lord's supper (Acts 8:36-38; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).
Every individual, whether a believer or an unbeliever, will one day stand before God and give account for the decisions he has made in this life. Because of this, we believe in the liberty of the soul or conscience. No one should be forced against his will to assent to any belief. However, this liberty does not exempt one from responsibility to the Word of God or from accountability to God Himself (Romans 14:5, 12; 2 Corinthians 4:2; Titus 1:9).
Local church membership is restricted to individuals who give a credible testimony of personal salvation in Christ and have publicly identified themselves with Him in believer's baptism by immersion, following salvation (Acts 2:47, 1 Peter 2:5, 2 Corinthians 12:12; 6:14; Ephesians 4:3).
The Bible mandates only two offices in the church: pastor and deacon. The two offices of pastor and deacon exist within the local church, not as a hierarchy outside or over the local church but as servants of the Lord (1 Timothy 3:1, 3:13; Philippians 1:1; Acts 20:17, 27-29; Acts 6:1-7).
God established both the church and the civil government, and He gave each its own distinct sphere of operation. The government's purposes are outlined in Romans 13:1-7, and the church's purposes are outlined in Matthew 28:19-20 (Matthew 22:15-22; 1 Timothy 3:14, 15).
